Southern Eastercamp began in 1996, when Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian youth ministries brought 360 Canterbury teenagers together to hear the Easter message. Thirty years on, the 2026 camp at Spencer Park was expected to welcome more than 3,000 young people from 80 youth groups across about twenty denominations and movements, some travelling from Marlborough, Tasman and Dunedin.

Canterbury Youth Services runs the logistics, and each group camps with its own leaders between the twice-daily gatherings in the Big Top.
