A delegation led by Bishop Henrik Stubkjær, president of the Lutheran World Federation, met Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on 1 October to look ahead to the 500th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession in 2030. Bishop Stubkjær said he hoped Catholics and Lutherans could mark the anniversary together in Augsburg on 25 June 2030, and the Pope spoke of 2030 as a possible shared step towards full visible unity.

The delegation gave the Pope a copy of the Lund Cross, which was made for the joint commemoration of the Reformation in 2016.
