To mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the Lutheran World Federation set out the ecumenical milestones it expected to share in during 2026. They included the start of a sixth phase of Lutheran and Catholic dialogue in Slovenia in February, the installation of Sarah Mullally as Archbishop of Canterbury in March, and further meetings with Orthodox, Anglican and Pentecostal partners.

Prof. Dr Dirk Lange, the federation’s assistant general secretary for ecumenical relations, said that finding common ground matters all the more as the world becomes more polarised.
