Fiji’s Parliament passed the Pasifika Communities University Bill at its third reading on 25 August, with support from all sides of the House, giving a legal footing to the regional university that has grown out of the Pacific Theological College.

During the debate, members including the Minister of Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, praised the university’s whole-of-life approach, which brings Pacific knowledge and spirituality together with academic study. The university thanked its pro-chancellor, Dr Akanisi Kedrayate, and its vice-chancellor, Rev. Prof. Dr Upolu Luma Vaai, for carrying the vision.
