The Synod of the Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches in Italy met in Torre Pellice, in Piedmont, from 22 to 26 August, and Pope Leo XIV sent the synod his good wishes. The message, signed by the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and addressed to Bishop Derio Olivero of Pinerolo, took up artificial intelligence, which had been the subject of a study day just before the synod opened.

Drawing on his encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, the Pope said that Christians are called to bear witness together to the freedom and dignity of every person made in the image of God.
