New Zealand’s Anglican and Roman Catholic bishops met in Auckland in September for their regular joint gathering, which takes place every year or two, and an Assistant Anglican Bishop from Polynesia joined them. Alongside time for whanaungatanga and prayer, they talked about the formal Anglican and Catholic dialogues in Aotearoa and around the world, their shared work against human trafficking and modern slavery, wider ecumenical relationships, church schools, safe ministry and synodality.
Several of the bishops were at the gathering for the first time, and it gave them a chance to build new connections locally and nationally.
