The World Council of Churches’ commissions and reference groups on life, justice and peace opened their joint biennial meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on 5 October. The WCC general secretary, Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, asked what it means to be the church today and encouraged churches to live out the unity they pray for.

Rev. Jung Eun Grace Moon, general secretary of the Christian Conference of Asia, welcomed participants to the region and joined a panel on repentance and renewal with the general secretaries of ACT Alliance and the World Communion of Reformed Churches.
