In early May, five people who had completed Amorangi training, in partnership with the Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership, were licensed for ministry in Te Aka Puahou at Te Maungarongo Marae in Ōhope, the Presbyterian Church’s national marae. It was the first service of its kind in ten years.

A pōwhiri was followed by the service in the wharenui and a shared feast. Rev. Tamiana Thrupp, Moderator of Te Aka Puahou, hopes that the next seven ministers will come from its young people.
