Writing on the WCC blog for Epiphany Sunday, the first Sunday of 2026, Rev. James Bhagwan, general secretary of the Pacific Conference of Churches, shared the Pacific churches’ new year prayer that the “Ocean of Peace” would flow out across the world.

Reading Isaiah, Ephesians and Psalm 72 alongside the story of the Magi, he described leadership that is measured by justice for the poor and care for children. He asked the church to begin with its own conversion and, like the Magi, to go home by another way.
