Meeting in Nukuʻalofa in August, General Synod Te Hīnota Whānui unanimously passed a motion on ocean wellbeing, placing the health of the ocean at the top of the church’s care for creation.

The Climate Commission, the tikanga climate champions and Anglican Missions will develop an ocean wellbeing framework grounded in theology and Indigenous knowledge, prepare liturgies of thanksgiving and care for the ocean, and encourage practical action in parishes.
