For the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, Pope Leo XIV received the delegation sent by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, keeping a long tradition of visits between the churches of Rome and Constantinople. Speaking at the Vatican on 30 June, he said last year’s commemoration at İznik of the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea had shown that the Nicene Creed should guide the path to unity.

He hoped that all the churches would prepare together for 2033, the two-thousandth anniversary of the Redemption, and work more closely together on peace, technology and the care of creation.
