Nominations opened in July for the 2026 Delargey Awards, which have recognised people who serve young Catholics in Aotearoa New Zealand every two years since 2004. Named after Cardinal Reginald Delargey, a former Bishop of Auckland and Archbishop of Wellington, the awards cover catechesis and evangelisation, justice and service, pastoral care, and prayer and worship.

Nick Wilson, who chairs the National Council for Young People, and Bishop John Adams invited nominations for well-known leaders and for people who serve quietly in their own communities. Nominations closed on 31 July.
