The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally, met Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on 27 April, their first meeting since her installation in March, and the two prayed together in the Urban VIII Chapel of the Apostolic Palace. The Pope recalled the meeting of Pope Paul VI and Archbishop Michael Ramsey sixty years ago, in 1966, which began the formal dialogue between Anglicans and Catholics.

He said that division weakens the witness Christians share, encouraged Anglicans and Catholics to keep proclaiming Christ together and to persevere in working through their differences, and thanked the Anglican Centre in Rome for its work.
