NATIONAL DIALOGUE FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY IN AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND

“ SO THE WORLD WILL BELIEVE…

JOHN 17:29

The NDCU (National Dialogue for Christian Unity) is a gathering of churches in Aotearoa New Zealand which confess Jesus Christ as God and Saviour.

Through the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to fulfilling Jesus’ prayer “…that they may all be one so that the world will believe”. Read on to see how we explore the significance of Jesus' prayer for unity and truth.

SEEING:

Christian unity means seeing beyond individual traditions and moving into unchartered territory where we experience the company of others on the same journey, with the Holy Spirit as our guide.

DEEPENING:

Deepening our relationships with each other visibly shows the unity that Christ wants for his church.

WORKING:

That means we work together towards the fulfilment of our common mission of worship, witness, proclamation and service in the world.

OTHER ECUMENICAL BODIES

  • A Maori section existed within the former National Council of Churches in New Zealand (later the Conference of Churches in Aotearoa New Zealand). In 1982, the member churches of this Maori section decided to form their own, autonomous council of churches. The aim of the Te Runanga Whakawhanaunga I nga Hahi o Aotearoa is:

"In our own life, witness, and service, to try and make more visible our unity in Christ, and promote the concerns and programmes of the ecumenical movement among our own constitutional members.”
